The G.I Bride is an amazing read and one which I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed as it isn't my usual kind of read.
It is set during World War Two and it follows the life of the main character, April Harvey. April, a trainee nurse, has recently lost her father in the Blitz and with no other family left nearby and feeling a great deal of loneliness she decides to leave London in search of family in her mothers home town of Cornwall.
I absolutely loved the way in which Aprils character was portrayed and I found her life to be incredibly intriguing which really helped me to feel so involved in the book.
Full of new beginnings, love, friendships, and also some heartache along the way I found this a fantastic read and I highly recommend it even if this isn't your usual kind of read.
