I’ve seen and read quite a few similar stories recently, where the child becomes an adult and realises their childhood wasn’t at all as it should have been!
Arden has changed her name to Olivia to get away from her past and focus on the present. However she receives a box of her mother’s possessions after hearing that she has died. Olivia, suddenly wracked with past memories stuffs the box in her wardrobe and tries to forget about everything. Unfortunately, as these things tend to do, the past will not remain hidden, and Olivias story is brought to the present at a rate of knots! Finding a dead man on her doorstep in the middle of the night certainly doesn’t help matters! And finding out your mum has lied to you all these years is a bit of a shocker too! Quite a good read, definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not sure I’ll ever look at a hot chocolate the same way again!
