The Girls Are All So Nice Here Tells the story of Ambrosia who has been invited to her college reunion, but is reluctant to attend. However, her husband convinces her that she should as he is keen to meet her college friends, As the story progresses we flip between the present (the reunion) and past events when Ambrosia was a college student. From the outset, it is clear that a devastating event took place and the tension is cleverly built as Ambrosia’s friendship with wild girl Sully develops.
The structure and plot development is excellent and had me guessing the whole way through. Twists and reveals are carefully placed in the flashbacks to the students’ past college life, leaving you wanting to read on. An enjoyable read if you love a tense, unpredictable and uneasy thriller.
