This is one of the most emotional books I have ever read in my life.
The story is based on the true life of the one of the greatest Polish heroes of WW2-Janusz Korczak who refused to abandon 200 Jewish orphans living in ghetto and fought all his life to protect them from extermination. He could have saved his life but He refused to leave the children on their own during the upraising saying "No child should have to face the dark alone”.
This is truly heartbreaking story which is even more significant for me as I’m Polish by origin and my grandma lived in Warsaw under Nazi occupation.
Dr Korczak is a well known hero in Poland and his story is taught at schools to remind everyone about the power of hope, trust and unconditional love.
I truly recommend this book for everyone!
