This author continues to go from strength to strength with her writing. Each of her books is full of heart and relatable characters, all struggling in their own way. In this book, not only does she address women on the autistic spectrum, she also delves into cancer recovery and caregivers’ burn out. These aspects of the story are addressed sensitively and some are inspired by the author’s own experiences. This shows as it is raw and genuine throughout. As a woman on the autistic spectrum myself, who was diagnosed later in life, I can completely identify and empathise with Anna. I adore how the author perfectly describes the emotional toll masking can take on an individual and I love having a leading character that I can relate to. Quan and Anna are so patient with one another and accept each other, quirks and all. It’s a wonderful representation of how you should be able to be vulnerable in a relationship and trust that the other person will support you unconditionally. I laughed, I cried and I fell in love with the characters. A beautiful and heart-warming book.
