Helen Hoang's most recent book is her best yet. Dealing with much heavier themes than her previous two books, this has a more serious tone, but I think it is all the better because of that.

The story is told from the alternating perspectives of protagonists Anna and Quan. Anna is struggling with her music career and finds herself involuntarily in the role as a carer to her very ill father. Quan is coming to terms with the after-effects of a life-threatening illness and the changes to his body. In their growing relationship with each other they find a friendship and romance which gives them support, comfort and relief from the stresses of their individual lives.

As in her previous books, Hoang is brilliant at creating relatable characters and believable dynamics that bring the story to life. I raced through this book and could not put it down. Helen Hoang is fast becoming a new favourite author of mine.

Thank you to Readers First for the copy of this book.
