I loved this book. The plot was intriguing and unique, and full of interesting characters that I loved reading about.
I really enjoyed reading about how Anna and Quan’s relationship progressed and how they helped each other overcome certain problems they each had. Their relationship is written really well, and I could feel their connection and the chemistry they have through the writing. The plot also dealt with more heavy and serious issues as well as being a romance, and it was done really nicely.
The writing style flows really nicely and is easy to follow. I loved having the two points of view, both had a unique voice and I enjoyed reading from each perspective. I flew through this book and could hardly put it down, I was invested in Anna and Quan’s relationship and was eager to see how it would turn out.
Even though this is part of a series, I found it okay to read each book as a standalone. I have yet to read the two previous books, and wasn’t aware that they are all connected through certain characters reappearing. I still found it an interesting book to read and don’t feel that I needed to read the others to understand this one and it didn’t hinder my experience of this book - although I now hope to read the previous two books as I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. I can’t wait to read more of Helen Hoang’s work.
