The Helicopter Heist is an epic thriller that kept me hooked until the very last page. Based on a true-life crime, the book starts slowly but quickly builds up pace to create suspense as the plot unravels and the heist draws nearer. The plot has all the ingredients of an entertaining story, including some laugh-out-loud moments and an epic twist that I did not see coming and still cannot stop thinking about. Jonas Bonnier's writing is confident and compelling throughout; it is hard to believe this is his debut suspense novel. The characters are skillfully drawn and their backgrounds and motives described in an intimate style that elicits unexpected empathy. I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent book and would highly recommend it.
