The Heretic's Mark is the fourth book in the Jackdaw series of which I've read two. The Saracen's Mark was the third book which was a real page turner. Knowing this I was keen to read this book however I found it not as fast moving as the one before.
I must say it was well written with all the great characters which the author, S. W. Perry bring to life.
With the threat of execution, Nicholas and his wife Bianca must flee England and travel to Padua until his name can be cleared. Following the ancient pilgrimage route, they leave Rose and her husband Ned Monkton back in London to oversee the rebuilding of the Jackdaw, the tavern which was burnt down.
Nicholas and Bianca meet a strange, religious woman. Hella who joins them on their travels. As the story unfolds, Hella is a cause for troubles and deaths that come their way.
This was a good book, very descriptive and a good storyline.
