This is a really tricky one to know how to review because I have such mixed feelings - on the one hand it was impossible to put down and a single sitting read, but on the other hand I still don’t really know what actually happened?!

This is the story of a woman and her stepdaughter who are already keeping secrets from each other, but soon find even more reasons for tension when they move into a holiday home with some strange goings on. As they get to know the other local women and their daughters, it soon becomes clear that the house’s impact goes far beyond those living in it right now…

Not the best description as I don’t really have a clue how to explain this one 🤣 Part mystery thriller/part witchy ghost story, the best way I can describe this book is atmospheric - SO atmospheric. I was creeped out from the start with the weird noises and secret hiding places in the house, and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going on.

The problem is, I’m not sure I did fully find out what went on…it felt like things were implied but never fully explained, so I’m not sure if I’ve drawn the right conclusions. Could as always, be me being dumb 🤷‍♀️

Having said that, the different relationships between mothers and daughters, stepmothers and stepdaughters, and new friends were all well fleshed out and intriguing, and I really did find it impossible to put down. So I think it’s one to make your own minds up about!
