OK! I wanna start with how I am not a great fan of horror books, and so, this is definitely out of my comfort zone, for sure!!
And so, please keep in mind that my review will reflect my skepticism for the general as a whole, rather than just the book. Think we're good to go now.
First impressions, chapter one and the first sentence itself keeps the reader hooked to the eerie setting and the tense atmosphere. And to be honest, I really appreciate the way in which the author translates the character's uneasiness onto his surroundings, so that as a reader, even with an awareness for the genre, it just keeps us grounded. No disaster-
strucks-at-midnight cliche.
As the story progresses, the author has done impressively well with maintaining the flow of the storyline, along with providing a simplicity and a sense of normality to the whole setting.
