I have to say, I didn't find this book as good as the author's other book 'The Wayward Girls'. Both were about a haunting presence but this one seemed a bit far fetched and lacked the sane excitement and suspense.

The characters were not very likeable. Maude was a spoilt brat who was vile to Nell, but Nell was also a real nag to her! Chris was irritating and absent and there's no way in real life that the women would have waited in a holiday let for that long for him to return without JUST GOING HOME.

The story developed and I enjoyed following the teenage girls' research and findings of the strange goings on in Elder house and the area, but there was so much emphasis on the child's shoe that I got bored.

Towards the end, it seemed to really pick up speed and it seemed to get more gripping but then I was disappointed by the ending itself. Overall not for me to be honest.
