Author Amanda Mason has done a great job with this perfect novel for autumn, particular around Halloween and the nights drawing in. I got a candle lit, a cosy blanket and settled down to this tense and spooky story with its aesthetically pleasing front cover.
Mason's description of the house gives it a personality, almost making it a character and the highly engaging writing made me visualise the area perfectly. The characters of protagonist Nell, husband Chris and daughter Maude are also well developed and believable, and the relationship between Nell and Maude is developed greatly with Chris's absence. A tense, highly emotive and interesting read that is a great modern day suspense tale that keeps you invested and intrigued to the end wondering how the females are going to get on. Highly recommended and I will be investigating more from this talented author.
