The book cover and title drew me in when I saw this book on the shelf. The descriptive power of the authors writing style was great, I could imagine the house and those that inhabited it. Sort of wanted to actually see some of the fantastic rooms.

As the story developed the background setting (ie: the Irish Uprising) sort of put me off reading to the end. The characters, despite their magical abilities, were believable and the reader could envisage them and their locations.

Luke’s journey of learning was quite interesting and those lesson principles could be applied to any persons journey through life. The patience element particularly resonated with me, we all need to be mindful and consider the consequences of our actions and take responsibility for our actions and reactions we elicit.
