Ursula Flight is the Private Judy Benjamin of the 17th Century!
"...there is no pleasure on this earth better than reading..." to quote from this adorable book, and I would add, there is no pleasure on this earth better than reading The Illumination of Ursula Flight.
Anna-Marie has crafted an engaging Ursula who is a character I very much cared about through my reading. I applaud the ease with which the author allowed me into the scenes, the sounds, the emotions, and the intricate detail.
The format of the book is both fun and unique. I love the moments when the prose turns to that of a script and diary entries. The supporting cast are superb, with those I hoped would get their comeuppance and those I hoped would allow Ursula to fly.
I would love to see this gem taken to the big screen. But for now, I have my own movie imagination which will stay with me. There is more I would love to read about Ursula, the Private Judy Benjamin of the 17th Century.
