It's all there: what it means to be a climber, in one single book.
When I first heard that Alex Honnold had free soloed El Capitan, I thought they were pulling my leg. Every climber knows who Alex Honnold is, but hey, we're speaking of El Cap here! Who can climb that without a fall!? Apparently, the Hon can.
Having a book written about his exploits by fellow climber Mark Synnott, who has known Alex for years, rather than a professional ghost writer, gives this account a personal insight not only into Alex's psyche, but also Mark's.
The book feels personal, friendly and honest. It is welcoming the reader into the climbing community. For this reason, it is more than just the account of a (formerly) impossible climb, it is motivational life and climbing wisdom. This book is taking you on a journey, from the laugh out loud hilarity (and madness) you find among climbers to tears of fear and pain.
I can't wait to finish this book so I can get my shoes and go climbing!
