I'll admit, I was a little overwhelmed by the size of this book when it arrived and I worried that it might be a slow and painful historic read. However I decided I should try none the less, and only 3 chapters in, so much had happened that I daren't put it down!
This is an epic novel, full of love, fear, adventure and hope. The story is a fresh concept, and my only complaint is that I have to wait for the next one to be released!
One thing that I feel sets it apart from other historical fiction that I have read is that there is no one character with all the answers. Every character is flawed and it is only through the combined knowledge of the whole demesne that hope remains.
I'd highly recommend this book to everyone - there are so many different topics and themes covered that I don't think anyone will miss out! This is a riveting and gripping plot with fantastic characters.
