This is a truly excellent book that will surely keep you page turning as you will be unable to wait to see what is going to happen next.
The Black Death starts near Weymouth and very quickly spreads.
This story follows its progress up country in the county of Dorset.
As this is set in June 1348 it obviously takes many hours of travelling along difficult pathways to get from A to B and the book is very descriptive of the villages on the way, and the effect the Black Death had on the villagers.
The story tells the tale of Lady Ann, her wayward daughter Eleanor and Thaddeus Thurkell whose lives are intertwined.
At the front there are maps of the area that are covered in the book. Fascinating with the oldie names of villages and towns in Dorset.
I loved this book and can recommend it as well as the next one that has just been released The Turn of Midnight.
