Thriller set in a beautiful coastline town in Maine. Littleport (the town) was my favourite character. The wealthy get-a-way in the summer time, is a tough place for locals during the winter months. The "two" towns are wonderfully characterised to the point you get transported there during your reading. Then there are the rest of the characters. Although they all have secrets, that are revealed along the story with perfect timing, they are a bite one-dimensional. All except for the narrator (Avery) and her dead friend (Sadie), whose suicide the Avery investigates through out the book.
Well written and very well plotted, The Last House Guest is one of those thrillers that keeps you guessing until the end.
Good summer read.
