This is a world of privelidge. Not one I particularly like. The idea that the wealthy are self assured and beautiful I find too simplistic. I doubt this would really hold my full attention to the novel's end.

The central character and narrator is interesting and her past with the now deceased Sadie is well developed. I found the focus on the physical appearance of characters a little trite. Sadie represents wealth but does she have to be cliche blonde, thin with perfect taste?

The descriptions of setting are convincing. The sea side towns of the US are very similar. The bland but good taste of these places shine through.

The writer does place moments of tension in well. Are we dealing with accidents or malice? We are not too sure. Use of weather to convey mood is also well done.

A good summer read.
