Wow. I'm honestly struggling to find the words to justify how incredible this book is. Much to my shame, I have never sat down and really thought about the impact that the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings had on people. Real people, with families, dreams, emotions, fears, were killed or had their lives transformed by that bomb. This book expresses that perfectly. Everything about it is sublime. The cover is simple but effective. The weight and feel of the book, the illustrations and origami paper, all of those things together make it a beautifully immersive experience. What's more, is that the poetry conveys the emotion that would otherwise be lost, whilst the narrative section gets the story across clearly. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, in fact, I think it should be compulsory reading. Truly incredible.
