Nothing out of the ordinary
Looking at the cover, I could instantly tell it was a thriller. The cover of dark trees is quite common to the genre of thriller. The blurb was quite average. It did not give us a great look into the book and it didn’t exactly have me hooked either. However, I still gave it a chance as I do enjoy thrillers.
It is obvious that Jackson is talented at describing detail. The descriptions were great. Unfortunately, they were overused and so much description was used that it took away from the actual story.
I found the book didn’t mention key facts (such as Simon being her son) but luckily the blurb did.
There was not much personality to the characters and I’m unsure about the plot. I wasn’t hooked by this extract either.
Unfortunately this was quite disappointing as I was excited to read the extract.
