One thing that I absolutely loved about this novel was the different generations that the author presents to the reader. For example, you have: Vidar Björland, a rich man who is not very liked by his neighbours, and who treats his daughter horribly; Liv, his daughter; and her son Simon. The narrator of this novel is Vidar's daughter Liv and two other characters.

The prose in this novel is absolutely stunning, not only because it describes the beautiful Swedish landscape which is so vividly portrayed, but also because it has beautiful lines like this one: "There are no monsters only men".

Another thing that I adored about this story was that the characters all have some sort of depth to them. There wasn't a single character in this novel that made me wish that the author would quickly change to another scene/character.

In honesty, I think this is genuinely an incredible piece of Nordic noir
