I was a huge fan of the first book by Stina Jackson - The Silver Road, so as soon as I saw who the author was I jumped at the chance to read the new book.

The story introduces two families. The first - Vidar Bjornlund, his daughter Liv (who is unhappy, living with her elderly father) and her son Simon. The other family is brothers Liam and Gabriel (local drug dealers). The story follows what happens when Vidar goes missing - switching from past to present, I found it was a bit confusing to keep track at first.

It is more of a slow burn and uncovers elements of the story gradually. However, there are plenty of twists and turns throughout the book and kept my interest right up to the last few pages, when everything was revealed.

The Last Snow is a great Scandi noir, gripping and compelling and one I would definitely recommend to fans of the genre or anyone looking to try Scandi noir as it was really well written and original with some interesting topics covered. The author has a fantastic way of describing the landscape of Ödesmark, it was very dark and bleak which set up the atmosphere of the story perfectly.
