Not your usual Scandi! It is typically very atmospherical, but the most prevalent feature for me throughout was the association of smell. It's everywhere - in nature, homes and places, and in the characters - their actions and life/death. For me this made it a brilliant read, it brought the characters and the setting to life.

Not fast paced, but kept my attention throughout. The story is told through the main character, but we also get inside the minds and actions of other characters, it's nicely balanced. I like this style, as it can get a bit closed if you can't relate to other people when trying to work out the twists in the plot.

Not all questions are answered in the final chapters, I think it's good to make your own mind up and have some uncertainty.

I haven't read anything else from this author, but will be looking to see what else she is connected to.
