Crime thrillers and mysteries constitute a large proportion of my preffered reads and as such it is often difficult to find new books that don't use certain ideas or tropes that are common within the genre. Whilst The Last Snow was by no means a groundbreaking, fresh perspective on the genre, I throughly enjoyed the read.

The Last Snow is a wonderfully ambient read and Jackson creates an encapsulating setting which draws you in. This would make a great read during the colder months so you can fully experience the setting.

The characters are portrayed very effectively and you can feel the tense relationships between them, which adds to the claustrophobic feelings mirrored in the main character. Each character is real, flawed and raw rather than being portrayed through rose-tinted glasses. This makes them all feel like real individuals that you would expect to meet.

Overall, this was a good read and I would recommend to anyone wanting an autumn reading suggestion.
