I found myself a little disappointed in this book - I'd read Stina Jackson's debut novel, The Silver Road, and absolutely loved it, but unfortunately The Last Snow didn't grip me in the same way. I thought the story was a little bit slow and didn't seem to get going until quite a long way through the book. I also found a lot of the characters really quite unlikeable, which again meant I found it more difficult to properly engage with the book and get into it. That said, it was a relatively easy read and the setting and locations described in the book were really powerful, the sense of place was excellent. The difficult relationships between many of the characters, especially the central father and daughter and relationship, was complex and made me feel quite uncomfortable, which I think was the intention. I'd still say it was worth a read, but the Silver Road is much more fast paced and more akin to the types of thrillers I like to read.
