Jonathan Coulter knew he was dying and decided that even in death he would be in charge. He has his lawyer draw up a very unusual will. Instead of saying how his assets are to be shared out he instructs his three children to sort it out between them. He says no funeral is to be held until they agree but if they cannot decide then everything will go to charity. The only thing the three can agree about is that they wish their father had never met Megan, the woman who replaced their mother. The book was easy to read but I found it rather unsatisfactory. At the end the questions of why he'd left them to make the decision about the estate and what he was trying to teach them are still unanswered. Liv, Noah and Chloe do learn a little more about themselves during the weekend. Their mother Eloise and Megan surprise themselves when they finally meet and talk together.
