I loved this book immensely. While the story itself was amazing, the writing style really accentuated the ways in which the characters went. This book is set in the late 1950s. Though I'm not at all familiar with this era, reading this book put me there perfectly. There are themes of racism and sexism, with the storyline taking both into account to create characters affected by the issues of the time and with the above shaping their attitudes.

Without saying too much, this is an amazing mystery novel perfect for summer reading; the cover says it all, really. It was definitely a rollercoaster read as it begins with a housewife going missing, leaving behind her two children and a pool of blood on the floor. It becomes the job of a local detective to find out what happens, though the suburban area in which it did proves to be more of a hindrance than a help.
