I was immediately drawn to this book by the cover alone. When I first saw it
I thought it was going to be a happy light hearted story because of the bright yellow colour on the cover, but if you look closely at the cover you start to notice all the little clues, A burned chicken in the oven a Knife stuck into the chopping board and what looks suspiciously like blood pooled on the floor.

The story is set in the summer of 1959, in a sunny well kept area of Sunnylakes, California. At some point during the long, long afternoon, Joyce Haney, wife, mother, vanishes from her home, leaving behind two terrified children and a bloodstain on the kitchen floor . . .

This is a fabulous thriller and I just couldn't put it down I found it quite fast paced and incredibly interesting to read. The writing was so good that I could actually picture the atmosphere of 1959. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a bit of escapism and of course a bit of a mystery to follow along!
