I dont think I've ever read such a beautifully written book. "The Lost Lights of St Kilda" tells the wonderful story of characters Fred and Chrissie and how they meet and begin to fall in love on the isolated island of St Kilda.

The story is written from both character's perspectives. Meaning it jumps from 1927, when they first met, to 1940, when Chrissie is no longer on the island and Fred is a prisoner of war. These jumps in time kept me gripped and wanting to know what happened to the characters. I found that both sides of this tale are captivating for very different reasons. I do feel however that I was carried away by the life on St. Kilda and its harsh beauty, wonderfully described by the author.
