This was such a slow burn novel but the story was juat beautiful.
The more I read the more I got into the story.
St. Kilda being an island has its own community and lifestyle.
The inhabitants are already struggling to stay there and live a meaningful existence, living off the land and fending to survive day to day.
But when war breaks out and affects their lives even more its now untenable for the residents to stay.
Then two very different men arrive to study the locals lives and the island way if life.
This all throws Cassie's life into disarray.
Both fall in love with her but one betrayal shatters everything abd things will never be the same for any of them ever again.
Beautiful, poetic writing this is a tender love story set during the devastation and the backdrop of war.
A wonderful wartime drama and a must for any fan of the genre.
