This is a beautiful story of a small Scottish island and its native inhabitants in the first world war. In addition it highlights some of the scottish regiments that also served in the war. A place that hasn't been overly shared during this period. The small intricate details were a delight and the characters and plot well thought out.
I was attracted initially by the beautiful cover that the author has chosen. The colours and picture echoes the setting and breathtaking scenery described in the book.
There were some obvious plot moments but also some twists and turns which left me shocked and emotional in parts.
I would very much like to see what other works this author has or will pen and I am excited by what I have read so far.
