The cover did put me off a bit but this book proves you should never judge a book by its cover.

At the start of the book it starts with a pretty grim murder scene. Then we jump back to the end of the second world war. I've never been a fan of history or war books but this actually surprise me and I found myself enjoying it a lot .

The main character Charlie priest is a very likeable character, who has a serial killer brother in a mental institution. Charlie fears he could be the same as his brother as he has a disorder that confuses reality with a dream like state that takes over his whole body. Charlie is a lawyer and ex policeman. When a wealth family the Ellinders turn up at his office to hire him as a private investigator in the death of their step-son/brother. He doesn't want to take the case but when his godfather commits suicide, Charlie knows he was murdered and his godfather has left him something that's connected to the case the Ellinders want him to take. Charlie has no option than to take the case and find out how everything is connected.

I'm hoping there will be a follow up to Charlie priest and will be keeping an eye on this author. Would definitely recommend.
