I've given this book two stars in spite of not being able to read it as I don't want to be unfair. I found the opening pages too disturbing to carry on. This doesn't happen very often but it did this time. I picked it up again a couple of times but was not able to get very far at all.
I'm not sure whether it was my mood or just the fact that I found the initial attack on the hero horrible and then reading on, well, it just got worse for me.
I've no doubt other readers will enjoy the book for its gritty writing but no this reader.
My apologies to the author. It won't stop me looking at his future work in the hope that next time I will find myself fully engrossed.
