his is my first foray into Elliott's work and it will most certainly not be my last!

In The Missing Years we meet Ailsa Calder. After spending years from her native highlands (Scotland) she returns to wrap her recently deceased mother's estate. Ailsa's mother has left her the family home The Mansen to her in her Will. Meeting up with her half sister (who she doesn't know all that well) to go through the paperwork, Ailsa discovers that she doesn't own the house outright and can't wrap up the Estate as quickly as she would like.

The other half belongs to her father...trouble is he's been missing since she was a child and no one has ever found him...with The Mansen feeling oppressive from the moment she enters the door Ailsa feels like there's something not quite right about her childhood home. Then onn her first night an intruder comes to the house and Ailsa realises there's more at stake here than her entitlement to the Estate...

I really enjoyed this book. It had the perfect amount of mystery as to whether there were supernatural events going on or was someone behind the hate campaign against Ailsa. The house or The Manse was almost a personality of it's own in the book. Only highlighted by the fact that it was completely isolated in the gorgeous but gothic backdrop of the highlands. I liked Ailsa and her sister and many of the supporting cast and was rooting for her to get to the bottom of what was going on (unscathed!).

There are a few red herrings to put you off the scent, but if you want a good book to curl up with on a rainy day, then I highly recommend The Missing Years.

A 4 star read for me.

I would like to thank Readers First for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
