When Ailsa Calder inherited half of “the Manse” following her mother’s death little did she know what secrets it held or what was to follow...
I particularly enjoyed how her relationship with her younger half sister, Carrie, unfolded over time and the insight she gained into her early, partly forgotten childhood.
I found the changing stories about Ailsa’s father at the beginning of each chapter a little distracting and pointless so I skim read these.
However, the storyline quickly draws the reader in and it’s easy to get carried along with its fast pace and intriguing, believable characters.
Was creepy and eerie at times and definitely needed to be read with the lights on.
Will definitely be looking to read more by Lexie Elliott.
