I enjoyed reading this book but did find it quite strange! The story follows Ailsa who's father went missing when she was a child. Each chapter starts with a possible scenario as to what happened to him and where he is now. Ailsa has inherited a big old house in Scotland called "The Manse". Locals are drawn to the manse but animals will not set foot in it..... There are several mysterious happens too. In this story there are lots of interesting characters and different relationships to explore. The book is easy to read but keeps you guessing. It is a mixture of a mystery, thriller and paranormal book. I found it a little bit gruesome in a couple of places but overall not too scary, making it ok as a bedtime read!
