The missing years is told from Ailsa's perspective after her mother dies and she leaves her hectic life in London behind to go to Scotland and deal with her childhood home her mother left behind. But there's one problem which threatens her ability to do so.. Her father, he disappeared 27 years ago and hasn't been seen or heard of since, and he owns half of the house. Half of the house which appears to be watching, and it's less than welcoming.
I struggled with the first...lets say fifth of the book. It started out a very slow burner and I just couldnt get past that initial obstical but when I did, I was in for an absolute treat! I honestly couldn't stop reading and I desperately wanted to know what was going on, grasping on to any hope of figuring it all out early, but I honestly couldn't.

Dark, eerie and absolutely mind boggling, this book had me on the edge of my seat. There's so much to take in and subtle hints throughout the book that if I'm honest, I completely missed. I got creepy vibes reading this book and that's exactly what I look forward to in a thriller, I guess you could say I was thrilled! I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style in this book and I even found myself having a giggle here and there, especially at some of the Scottish phrases and banter.

I will say however, I wasn't a fan of all of the "My father" sections, I don't know what it was about them but I just didn't gel with them at all and I skimmed through them in order to carry on with the story. And I do wish a relationship had kindled between some of the main characters but hey ho, you can't win them allπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ I'm really glad I pushed through
