I cannot work out whether I enjoyed this book or not. I first started reading it and then stopped after the first 4 chapters. I am unsure why this is though. After reading a few other books I recently came back to this one and now cannot see why I stopped the first time.

The story was very well written and I felt connected to all the characters. I especially liked how they used Callum, the little boy, and his dog as a way to show how the house changed from the beginning to the end with animals going on the grounds.

Ailsa inherits a family home after the death of her mother and invites her half sister Carrie to join her at the house whilst she works out how to sell it. This being an issue as the other half belongs to her dad whom went missing when she was 7 and had not been seen or heard of since. Eventually, it all works out well for everyone and it was great to see the relationships start and end between the characters.
