Ailsa inherits an eerie manor in the Scottish Highlands. I think this made a perfect read for Halloween time. An engaging book with dark twists and turns. As the story unfolds, it draws the reader in and doesn't disappoint. I like that a girl is the protagonist - a young girl exploring her new inheritance and trying to navigate her way through a mysterious situation. It's been a while since I read an eerie novel - took me back to when I was a kid and used to devour three Goosebumps a day. Although The Missing Years was nothing like that, it filled me with nostalgia and kept me interested in the story till the very last page. I rarely buy a book now with supernatual elements but this book reminded me of how thrilling it is to read books like that and I'm definitely getting into that again. Can't wait to read more from Lexie Elliott. Anyone wanting to get in the mood for halloween, pick this one up!
