This book had two main characters, both of whom were interesting, and a host of great supporting characters too.
The Night Ship told the story of an 18th century Dutch girl, and a boy in 1987 in alternating chapters. Their stories though separate are interlinked, and although at the start I found the switching between the two a little annoying, as the book went in I got used to it, and enjoyed both threads of the story, although have to say I found the girls story more engaging overall.
The writing is detailed without being overly so and getting in the way of the plot which can sometimes happen.
This isn't the type of book I would usually pick up, so I'm grateful to Reader's First for sending me an advanced copy to read and review as it gave me an opportunity to read something that I otherwise wouldn't have done.
I think if you like historical fiction, you will enjoy this one.
