This is a very engrossing read and is written with much humanity. It tells the individual stories of nine resistance workers and how they escaped from Nazi Germany. It is a biographical account written by a relative of one of the nine. It is well researched (the bibliography is contained for further research) and relates a lot of detail and instances which occurred at a very human level. It really made me focus on what it would have been like for these people, not just 'the nine' but also others who were so unfortunate to have been detained in such appaling conditions throughout the Nazi regime. It is interspersed with photographs which are revealing of time and conditions. I would like to thank Readers First and Manilla for my advanced copy and would certainly recommend this book to others for its very well written and factual account.
