This is one powerful book. It tells the story of nine women who fight through until the very end, from their escape to what happened to them following their escape. To read of the things that these women went through is hard reading, to believe that someone can do those things to another human being is sickening. The author paints a grim picture at points, but the description makes you feel as though you are there watching the goings on. It was nice to hear of the little kindnesses that they were shown as they made their escape. There is some kindness out there. Not a book I would recommend as a bed time read, as it is a bit heavy going. This is a very powerful read and I would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed books like the Tatooist of Auschvitz. It gives a look into the lives of the people and the horrible atrocities that were committed during that time.
