I loved the first impression of this book but I’ve only just now got around to reading it. Turned out to be a one session read and I can pay it no higher compliment. Jim is a supermarket security guard who sees a customer carrying a book called ‘The Nothing Man’. We learn immediately that this is the name given to a serial killer-and that serial killer is Jim. The author of the book is Eve, who , aged 12 survived the Nothing Man’s massacre of her family. Now she is out to do do what the Gardai failed to do - to find their killer So far, so predictable. However what is compelling is that Jim now begins to read the book and we get two complementary points of view of the events of 20 years ago. Not quite as twisty as I expected and there are some pretty well signposted clues as to what might be going on. Nevertheless suspecting and knowing are two different things and it certainly was a compelling read
