I enjoyed the writing style, fast paced and well written. The plot was revealed gradually, although you knew it was extremely unpleasant and macabre. The main character, Tom, is no angel but you can tell he has a conscience and wants to atone for previous actions. You can imagine Lila and see how Tom has become involved with her problems.
There are a good mix of characters, all believable, mostly seemingly ordinary. The story is spooky and chilling and at times uncomfortable reading but you want to know what happens next. The author keeps you guessing constantly with the twists and turns in the plot. The main protagonist is unexpected and not revealed until the end of the story. Well worth a read.
