I really wasn't sure whether I would enjoy this book - it's completely different to what I normally read, but I am so glad I persevered! I don't think I will ever think of Cornwall, especially tin mines, quite the same. The setting of Cornwall was perfect though, for this tale of a small community, witchcraft and Pagan beliefs, however I found it hard to believe that so many members of this community would be persuaded to take part in such desperate measures! Cornwall was certainly not portrayed as you'd expect - drugs and run-down seaside towns played quite a part, and the references to Brexit were thought-provoking. I liked the lead character Tom Killigan, and look forward to him appearing in future novels.
