“ Sometimes the only thing you can do in response to the big things are small things“ I could quote endless pearls of wisdom from this book.

A beautiful flow and tantalising love for language that is evident with every turn of the page.

This book follows the life of Augusta, a white British girl bought up in privilege but with a lust for life that cannot be quenched from Hedley Green.

Then we meet Parfait, a lost soul from civil war torn Bruandi, clawing at the walls to escape.

This book had me truly questioning the things we seek and I will miss the characters now that I have finished the book- the best sign of a good read.

Perhaps there is someone out there for all of us that we are destined to be with if only we can continue to search for them in the darkness. Is all that we gain really worth all that we loose and is home a place or a person?
