Heart wrenching but beautiful
This was very much one of those unputdownable stories that stay with you for a long time.
I instantly felt an attachment to Augusta, the main character, who was the quirkier one of twins living a simple little life in a simple little crescent.
Augusta was different in many ways and longed to escape the monotony and go to a faraway place she could only reach through her poetry. As she came nearer to the age of actually being able to, there was a spiral of awful happenings so terrible that the whole family was changed forever.
I have to say that the ending was quite predictable. I still very much enjoyed it, but I felt that I knew right from the start exactly what would happen with the characters from the contrasting settings.
