From the very beginning of the novel, you can instantly tell that the life of Sofia Khan isn't simple. Juggling a new marriage, religious differences and family dramas, you can't help but be on Sofia's side from the minute you get to know her wit and humour. Her relationship with Conall, particularly towards the end of the book (although I won't give any spoilers!), left me hoping for the best, but was a perfect example that marriage and relationships aren't always simple even when two people clearly love each other very much.

Nevertheless, I closed the book feeling positive about the journey that Sofia and Conall found themselves on. While the romantic in me would have loved to see the couple reconcile, it was refreshing to read a book which reflects the clash between religious difference, long-distance relationships and the hardships of marriage. In this respect, the title of the book sums Sofia and Conall up perfectly.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Sofia and her relationships with her family, friends and new boss. Ayisha's style of writing allowed me to engage and empathise with the characters instantly, and I hope we can catch up with the life of Sofia Khan in the future!
